Our commitment
We regard the accessibility of the site as part of the service itself, not an addition to it. The site was designed and built so that it can be used - including searching for a car, making a booking and managing your personal area - with a keyboard alone, with screen-reader software, and at enlarged display sizes.
The standard the site works to
The site works to Israeli Standard SI 5568 Part 1 at level AA, as required by Regulation 35 of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments to Service) Regulations, 5773-2013. The adjustments were built against the WCAG 2.2 level AA guidelines - a more recent version than the one the standard refers to - in order to include requirements added after the standard was published, among them a minimum size for click targets, visibility of the focus indicator, and an alternative to actions that require dragging.
The accessibility menu
An accessibility icon appears in the bottom corner of every page on the site. Clicking it - or pressing F10 - opens a menu in which the following can be changed. Your change is saved and carries across pages and across visits:
- Display size - 100% to 200%. The text and the spacing around it grow together, so content is not cut off.
- Contrast and colour - high-contrast mode, dark mode, or a greyscale display.
- Text spacing - increased spacing between lines, letters and words.
- Readable font - switches to a font with high distinction between letters.
- Highlight links - underlines every link, so that a link is not identified by colour alone.
- Stop animations - animations and display transitions on the site are stopped.
- Enhanced focus indicator - a prominent, clear marking of where the focus is during keyboard navigation.
- Large mouse cursor.
- Reading ruler - a horizontal bar that follows the reading position, both with the mouse and during keyboard navigation.
At the bottom of the menu there is a Reset button that returns every setting to its original state.
Keyboard navigation
- At the start of every page there is a "Skip to content" link, revealed by pressing Tab, which moves the focus directly to the main content - including on the booking and payment screens.
- The entire booking process can be completed with the keyboard alone. In groups of choices (branch, dates, coverage, extras) you can move between the options with the arrow keys, and to the ends with the Home and End keys.
- Moving between booking steps moves the focus to the heading of the new step and announces it to screen-reader software.
- Changing filters on the search results page announces the number of matching vehicles.
- Dialogs and menus that open trap the focus, close with the Esc key, and return the focus to the place they were opened from.
Further adjustments made
- A hierarchical heading structure and marked navigation landmarks on every page, for quick navigation in screen-reader software.
- Alternative text for images that carry information; decorative images are hidden from screen readers so as not to overload them.
- Form fields with a persistent label, and error marking that is announced as soon as it appears and is linked to the field it belongs to.
- Contrast ratios are checked automatically against the site's colours, and that measurement is carried out in both display modes - light and dark.
- The site respects the operating system's reduce-motion setting, and motion can also be stopped from the accessibility menu. Moving content strips have a dedicated stop button.
- The site was built to display correctly on narrow screens - down to a minimum width of 320 pixels - and at up to 200% zoom, without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
We deliberately set out here what has not yet been completed:
- Maps. The maps on the site are presented as a visual component. For every branch the full address, opening hours and telephone number also appear as text, and those are the binding source - no map is needed in order to obtain the information.
- Documents. Documents produced by the system and sent to the customer are produced as tagged PDF files. Documents that were scanned or uploaded in the past may not meet the standard; to receive any document in an accessible format, please contact us through the channels below.
- Third-party content. Components embedded from external providers are not fully within our control. Where such a component blocks an action, there is an alternative way to complete it with us directly.
