From what age can I rent a car?

From age 17, from day one of your licence. A new or young driver can rent with us with no driving experience required.

How much driving experience is required?

There is no experience requirement. We trust you from day one of your licence - once you have passed your test, you can rent.

What insurance does a new or young driver get?

The basic cover we provide is comprehensive insurance on the Hoshen Car vehicle, compulsory insurance and third-party insurance. In the event of an accident, damage or theft you carry an excess. The exact amount is shown in the pricing section on this page and at the coverage and insurance step of the booking, where it can be reduced for an additional charge with a coverage upgrade.

Do I need an accompanying driver?

A new driver under 24 must be accompanied by an experienced driver during the first six months only. From age 24 there is no accompaniment requirement.

How many kilometres can I drive?

Every rental includes a kilometre allowance, set by the rate type and the vehicle category. The allowance is shown in the offer details on the results page. You can drive beyond it for a charge per extra kilometre, or buy a discounted kilometre package in advance - both are shown at the kilometres step of the booking, before payment.

What do I need to bring to collect the car?

A valid physical driving licence, held for the whole rental period, and a credit card in your name with 4,000-5,000 ₪ of available credit for the deposit - the exact amount for your booking is shown in the booking. If the card is not in your name, the cardholder has to come with you.

Everything you need to know about the price in one place: what each category costs per day, and what the excess is.

In the event of damage to the car, the excess is ₪8,000, and it can be reduced with a coverage upgrade at booking.

Prices are a base price per rental day and include VAT and basic insurance. On peak dates and holidays the price is higher, and on a longer rental the price per day is lower. The exact price for your dates is shown at booking.

The definition in law

Who counts as a "new driver" in law

A new driver is someone within the first two years of receiving their driving licence, and is required to display a "new driver" sign on the vehicle.

We provide the sign free of charge when you collect the car, so it is not something you need to arrange yourself.

Two terms, two different measures

Young driver versus new driver

The two terms are often mixed up, and they are not the same thing: "new driver" is determined by licence tenure, and "young driver" is determined by age. You can be one without being the other.

With us all four situations can rent a car, and all of them get the same basic insurance.

What to bring to collection, and what the rental includes

The two things most worth knowing in advance: what is already included in the price, and what you need to have with you at the branch on collection day.

What to bring to collection
A valid physical driving licence, held for the whole rental period, and a credit card in the renter's name. That is all you need.
The deposit is a hold on the card, not a charge
You need 4,000-5,000 ₪ of available credit, and the exact amount for your booking is shown in the booking. It is held on the card for the rental period and released when the rental ends.

A kilometre allowance is included

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pick-up
Changing your plans before that window costs you nothing. What applies to your booking is shown on the car card while you are still searching, before you book.
Pick up and return even when the branch is closed
By arrangement you can collect and return the car outside opening hours, and you are not charged for the time until the branch opens. We answer the phone and WhatsApp throughout the day.

How it works

Choose dates and a category
Choose your pick-up and return times and the vehicle group. The booking is for a category, not for a specific model.

Confirm the booking
You can book on the site with an advance payment by credit card, or simply leave your details and finalise it with us by phone.

Collect the car
Come with a valid physical driving licence and a credit card in your name. A "new driver" sign is waiting for you at the branch.

Return it, even outside hours
Pick-up and return 24/6, including outside opening hours. We answer by phone and on WhatsApp throughout the day.
