When a monthly rate is the right choice
There are periods when you need a car regularly, but not for ever: a temporary relocation, waiting for a car you have ordered, a project running a few months, or simply not wanting to enter a multi-year lease. That is exactly where the monthly rate comes in - the convenience of a private car, without the purchase and without the long commitment.
A monthly rate is a familiar option. What we bring to it is personal support, and an answer for a new or young driver from age 17, from day one of the licence - so this option is open to drivers at the very start of the road too.
What matters before you settle
A low price does not always mean the best value. It is worth checking what the kilometre limit includes, what the insurance terms and the excess are, and who answers the phone when something happens in the middle of the month. We commit to personal, professional service throughout the period.
A commercial vehicle by the month
We also keep commercial vehicles in various sizes, with the option of arranging a specific booking for a long-term rental. If that is what you need, it is best to contact us directly rather than through the online booking.
Comparison
The daily rate against the monthly rate
Both options rent the same cars on the same insurance terms. The difference is in the length of the commitment, in the kilometre allowance, and in what the commitment gives back in return.

Before you book
What the monthly rate includes
What goes into the monthly rate, and where you see every figure before you pay.
A monthly kilometre allowance
The monthly rate has a kilometre allowance of its own, measured per rental month rather than per day. The allowance is set by the vehicle category, and it appears explicitly in the offer we send you.
Compulsory and comprehensive insurance
Included in every rental. The excess, and the options for reducing it, are set out in the offer we send you - before you commit to anything.
Driving beyond the allowance
You can drive beyond the allowance for a charge per extra kilometre, or buy a discounted kilometre package in advance. Both are set out in that same offer.
What to bring to collection
A valid physical driving licence, and a credit card in the renter's name with available credit for the deposit. The deposit amount is set out in the offer.
The monthly rate is calculated per rental month. Leave your details and we will come back to you with the full price for the period you need, before you commit to anything.
Monthly rental, from start to finish
How does monthly rental work?
Four steps
We maintain and service the car the whole way through.
- Choose a vehicle category and a period
- Receive an offer with the monthly price and the kilometre allowance
- Collect the car from the branch
- At the end of the period - extend or finish
The charge is calculated per rental month.
What does the monthly payment cover?
The car, the insurance, the maintenance and the kilometres
The kilometre allowance is measured per rental month.
Covered by the payment
- The car
- Compulsory, third-party and comprehensive insurance
- Maintenance and servicing
- A kilometre allowance for each rental month
Not included
- Fuel
- Fines and tolls
- An additional driver
- Optional cover to reduce the excess
What happens if I go over the kilometre allowance?
You can drive beyond it
The only question is when you buy the kilometres - in advance or after the fact.
- A kilometre package in advanceBetter valueFor anyone who knows in advance that they drive a lot. Bought before the journey, at a reduced price.
- Paying for the overageEvery kilometre beyond the allowance is charged separately.
Both amounts are set out in the offer, before you commit to anything.
What should I ask before settling a monthly rental?
Five things
And we answer every one of them in the offer, before you commit.
- What the kilometre allowance is, and what period it is measured over - a month or a day
- What a kilometre beyond the allowance costs, and whether there is a discounted package
- How high the excess is, and what can be done to reduce it
- Who services the car, and what happens if it goes into the garage mid-period
- What the terms are for finishing and for extending
I need a car for a month or two without committing for a year. Is this the right option?
Usually yes
The monthly rate is built for exactly the period that is too long for a daily rental and too short for a multi-year commitment: no financing process, no commitment for years, and you can extend or finish as you need.
My car is in the garage for a long spell. Is there an answer?
Yes
That is one of the most common uses of the monthly rate. You can take a car for a defined period and finish when your own car comes back.
What is the difference between a daily rate and a monthly contract?
Not the car - the period
The monthly rate is a rental contract in every sense, not a different product.
What stays the same
- The same cars
- The same basic insurance terms
- Eligibility for a new driver from age 17
What changes
- The length of the commitment
- The kilometre allowance is measured per month, not per day
- The relative cost over an ongoing period
