Two barriers, one answer
A new driver looking for a car for a long period is usually caught between two options that do not really fit: daily rental, which gets more expensive the longer the period runs, or leasing, which demands seniority, financing and a multi-year commitment. The result is that the people who most need a car day to day - a student, a discharged soldier, someone starting a new job - are the ones left without one.
This option joins the two together: a monthly rate, which works out better than a daily rate over the same period, and rental from age 17, from day one of the licence and with no seniority requirement. It suits individuals, businesses, and companies providing a car for a young employee.
How we choose the car with you
For a new driver the choice matters more than usual. We will weigh up fuel consumption, boot space, how well it takes child seats, the car's safety systems, the room inside and the kilometre limit - and point you to the category that fits your day-to-day use, not just the price.
What the law says
What applies to you as a new driver
These obligations are set by law rather than by us, and they are the same for a daily rental and for a monthly one.

Before you book
What is included, and what to bring to collection
What the monthly rate covers while the licence is still fresh, and where you see every figure.
A monthly kilometre allowance
The monthly rate has a kilometre allowance of its own, measured per rental month rather than per day. The allowance is set by the vehicle category and shown in the offer details on the results page.
Insurance for a new driver too
The insurance covers a new or young driver from age 17, from day one of their licence. The excess for a new driver is higher, and the exact amount and the options for reducing it are shown at the coverage and insurance step of the booking.
Driving beyond the allowance
You can drive beyond the allowance for a charge per extra kilometre, or buy a discounted kilometre package in advance. Both are shown at the kilometres step of the booking.
What to bring to collection
A valid physical driving licence, and a credit card in the renter's name with available credit for the deposit. The deposit amount is shown in the booking.
The monthly rate is calculated per rental month. The full price for the period you chose is shown on the results page, before you book.
